At the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons in San Francisco, California on March 6, 2008, DJO and the Patellofemoral Foundation co-hosted a meeting with the International Patellofemoral Study Group to help work out areas of "general agreement" regarding the patellofemoral joint. This meeting, which lasted several hours, resulted in a general agreement statement that has been posted on the website of the Patellofemoral Foundation www.patellofemoral.org. This groundbreaking meeting brought together international patellofemoral experts in an open forum that emphasized collaboration and consensus (a model for world politics?).

Hopefully this information will provide a framework for further collaboration and even an algorithm for treatment that can be used eventually for broad education regarding optimal care of patients with patellofemoral disorders. Lieve Vanden Berghe was the power house behind this unique educational event sponsored by DJO.
