DonJoy, Compex and Tony Cairoli, World Champions

Tony Cairoli is the new MX1 World Champion. The Sicilian obtained his second world title in a row in the MX1 class after winning the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The race was an uphill battle for Cairoli. In the first heat he started 19th and fought his way back to second. In the closing heat Cairoli won, while his only remaining rival – the Belgian Clément Desalle – didn’t score any points. With 2 more Grand Prix remaining, Cairoli has opened a big enough gap to be sure of his second consecutive world title.

Along with Cairoli, DonJoy Defiance knee braces and Compex electrical muscle stimulators are world champions. DonJoy and Compex have teamed up with Tony since his debut in the MX1 class and since the beginning of their partnership, they have known nothing but success.

Still, winning the world title with two Grand Prix left came as a surprise, even to four times World Champion Tony Cairoli.

“The world title was so close”, explains Cairoli. “But when I saw how things were shaping up after the start I didn't think I could win it in Brazil. I wasn’t even sure until the last lap that I had the world title wrapped up. This year I changed bikes and to win for a second year in a row with an all new motorcycle was a great challenge. I dedicate this victory to my family and to everyone who supports me and believes in me."
