Cairoli Takes it Easy

Only 9 days after his knee surgery, newly crowned World Champion Tony Cairoli was back at the starting gate of a Grand Prix. In Canelinha Cairoli rode the final GP of the season to get back into the rythm. “I felt a little bit unsure after the surgery. They only had to take away a little piece of cartilage, but still, it was surgery and I only had 9 days to get prepared. In the first heat I had a small crash and I didn’t want to take any risks after that. In the second heat my front wheel got caught up in the bike of Jonathan Baragan, he had crashed and I had nowhere to go, so I rode a conservative race. Now i’m focussing on the Motocross of Nations. Italy has a strong team there and I really look forward to that race. I still have 2 weeks to get my knee up to full strength and I have the DonJoy Defiance III’s to keep my knee’s secure. I’m sure I’ll be ready on October 4th.”
