Cairoli Leads the Championship

After wining 3 Grand Prix World Championships, Tony Cairoli is back on top of the MX1 World Championship. The DonJoy rider had a good start to his 2010 season with a podium finish in the Bulgarian GP and a win in his home GP in Italy. In the Dutch GP he won both heats and now leads the World Championship with an 18 point bonus on his teammate Max Nagl.

“So far the season has been great”, Cairoli says. “I’ve won 4 out of 6 heats and I’m feeling good. Last year I started the season with a knee problem and I didn’t know what to expect. But it all worked out fine and my DonJoy knee braces helped me through an injury free season. They also helped me prepare during the winter, so this season I can start at full strength. And it shows. I’m looking forward to the 4th GP of the year next weekend in Portugal, but I’m not focussed on a new world title just yet. I’m taking it one race at a time. If I keep performing well in each race, the title will follow automatically.

DJO riders Tanel Leok and Davide Guarneri of the LS Honda factory team are performing great too. Supported by Compex, both Honda-riders are now in the top 10 of the World Championship standings.

The World Championship standings after 3 races are:

1. Antonio Cairoli (ITA, KTM), 138 points
2. Maximilian Nagl (GER, KTM), 120 points
3. Steve Ramon (BEL, Suzuki), 101 points
4. David Philippaerts (ITA, Yamaha), 100 points
5. Ken de Dycker (BEL, Yamaha), 94 points
6. Clement Desalle (BEL, Suzuki), 79 points
7. Xavier Boog (FRA, Kawasaki), 70 points
8. Tanel Leok (EST, Honda), 66 points
9. Jonathan Barragan (ESP, Kawasaki), 56 points
10. Davide Guarneri (ITA, Honda), 56 points
